[Through their thrashing, he won't find her, because the message to him was a cry for help from Dan Feng himself. Those last few texts were hard to write as the letters jumbled under his fingers and as the urge to rip Bailu apart became stronger, incomprehensible, right, and now Dan Feng roars under the water, bubbles rippling violently to the surface.
His strength, like this, is of the killing machine the Stellaron Hunters deployed, and he tries to wrap around Yingxing, unseeing. Leaves and pieces of meat churn around them. Dan Feng seems to have forgotten he can control water and is just trying his very best to tear a chunk out of Yingxing by mouth.]
[ the water froths with blood and bone as they tear at one another, but now that yingxing is reasonably certain that bailu is not here, he focuses more on containing dan feng, and calming him. which means, for the moment, keeping him pinned with his weight, allowing his heat to sink against him, the pulse of their hearts erratic for the moment, not yet aligned. ]
It's me. It's me. I'm here.
[ he rumbles in his chest, no longer snapping or clawing, instead holding on, hoping that his blood in the water will help to soothe dan feng's raging mara. but he is ready to fight if need be, should things get further out of control. ]
[The blood in the water is too thin, too watered down, and with every heartbeat Dan Feng grows even more frantic. He needs to tear at something. The violence itches under his scales. His fangs sink into some part of Yingxing and he's struggling too hard to comprehend drinking any of it.]
No. Nobody does. [Eight hundred years of solitude and wallowing in a mire of guilt and his mind still can't fathom actually having someone wanting to help him when he's like this] Let me go- [He snarls, mentally, part of him clawing from the mara, confused-] Kafka- just kill me-
[ he won't. not like this. if forced into a corner, to protect another, perhaps.. but it would tear open his heart to do so. pain blooms where dan feng's powerful jaws snap, hewing away flesh and fur and scales, but pain is something he knows well, something he can endure. ]
I'm staying. With you. Not going anywhere. Dan Feng.. remember my name. Remember my heart.
[ he shoves his bitten shoulder harder into dan feng's jaws, tearing more skin and muscle, his blood blossoming, trying to flood his mouth and throat with it. his own mara begins to itch as well, burning at the back of his mind, but yingxing clamps down hard on it, his limbs tangled around the writhing dragon. ]
[Their mental link somehow gurgles, from Dan Feng's end, and Yingxing will be able to tell the exact moment Dan Feng takes enough of his blood in: he goes still, and his jaws crush through what it can, hungrily. There's the voracious feeling of want, so strong that it's impossible to distinguish what sort of want it is, and then-]
[ even through the pain of his shoulder crushed beneath the power of dan feng's maw, yingxing feels cool relief flood his body, surging between their bond, his dragon heart pounding. ]
.. ah, there you are. [ warmth ripples through their link. ] I'm here. You're all right.
[He finally unlatches his mouth from Yingxing, confusion thrumming through his mind as he gets his bearings, and he floats backwards just enough so he can shift back into his humanoid form.]
[ dan feng is back in his usual shape, but yingxing's shifting isn't as flawless, especially from water to land. so he wraps his paws around dan feng and pulls him in, then kicks back up to the surface, breaking through until he's able to fill his lungs.
and then, near to the pond's edge, he shifts back with a groan. his shoulder is in rough shape, torn open and likely badly broken, but it's nothing that'll kill him. ]
[Dan Feng digs his hands into both shoulders - even the mangled one - and rattles him.]
You stupid man. Idiot.
[His tone is still a little slow, a little strange; Yingxing would know the feeling of recovering from a mara episode. But cloudhymn is already running through his body, knitting injury together. Dan Feng isn't in his right mind enough to heal him completely, so it's going to be a while, and even then, Yingxing will be sore, even with his healing factor.]
[ pls, his shoulder!! yingxing hisses, but he's grinning. ]
Mm.. I don't think I will. It's just a shoulder. It'll heal just fine. [ more importantly.. he drops a hand onto one of dan feng's wrists, squeezing. ] .. so what's wrong?
[ dan feng climbs onto him, and yingxing's arms slip around him by rote. ]
I never handled dracocatena mechanisms personally. I refused. But I do know the theories behind it, and I have designed the hardware that it's housed in.
[ honestly, he's kind of pissed that they've used his designs for something like that.. even hundreds of years later. ]

She. Her braids. Baiheng had wore hers in a braid.

Their eyes, too. They're the same. She's a little firecracker.

[He frowns.] There is something blocking her major meridians, too, tempering her cloudhymn - did you notice? On her tail.

[ as for her tail.. ]
.. yeah, I noticed. That shackle.

Did you ever get commissioned for anything working with it.
